When I first started my blog I looked up passages in the Bible that relate to each category I have. I want to share them with you.
I hope you enjoy them!
Faith
“Rejoice in the Lord always! I say it again. Rejoice! Dismiss all anxiety from your minds. Present your needs to God in every form of prayer and in petitions full of gratitude. Then God’s own peace, which is beyond all understanding, will stand guard over your hearts and minds, in Jesus Christ.
“Finally, my brothers, your thoughts should be wholly directed to all that is true, all that deserves respect, all that is honest, pure, admirable, decent, virtuous, or worthy of praise.”
Philippians 4: 4, 6-7
Family
“I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Such as my love has been for you, so must your love be for each other.”
John 13: 34
“Keep careful watch over your conduct. Do not act like fools, but like thoughtful men. Give thanks to God the Father always and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Defer to one another out of reverence to Christ.”
Ephesians 5: 15, 20-21
“Because you are God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with heartfelt mercy, with kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another; forgive whatever grievances you have against one another. Forgive as the Lord has forgiven you. Over all these virtues, put on love, which binds the rest together and makes them perfect.”
Colossians 3: 12-14
Marriage
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church. He gave himself up for her to make her holy, purifying her in the bath of water by the power of the word, to present to himself a glorious church, holy and immaculate, without stain or wrinkle or anything of that sort. Husbands should love their wives as they do their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. Observe that no one ever hates his own flesh; no, he nourished it and takes care of it as Christ cares for the church-for we are members of his body.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cling to his wife, and the two shall be made into one.”
This is a great foreshadowing; I mean that it refers to Christ and the Church. In any case, each one should love his wife as he loves himself, the wife for her part showing respect for her husband.”
Ephesians 5: 25-33
Kids and Parenting
“You children, obey your parents in everything as the acceptable way in the Lord. And fathers, do not nag your children lest they loose heart.”
Colossians 3: 20-21
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for that is what is expected of you. “Honor your father and mother” is the first commandment to carry a promise with it-“that it may go well with you, and that you may have long life on earth.”
Fathers, do not anger your children. Bring them up with the training and instruction befitting the Lord.”
Ephesians 6: 1-4
At Home
“Stop worrying, then, over questions like, “What are we to eat, or what are we to drink, or what are we to wear?” The unbelievers are always running after these things. Your heavenly Father knows all that you need. Seek first his kingship over you, his way of holiness, and all these things will be given you besides.”
Matthew 6: 31-33
“We brought nothing into this world, nor have we the power to take anything out. If we have food and clothing we have all that we need.”
1 Timothy 6: 7-8
Homeschool
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, on your own intelligence rely not; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6
Personal Enrichment
“At all times bless the Lord God, and ask him to make all your paths straight and to grant success to all your endeavors and plans.”
Tobit 4: 19a
“Whatever you do, whether in speech or in action, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3: 17
