Colossians 3: 5-11-Renunciation of Vices
5 Put to death whatever in your nature is rooted in earth: fornication, uncleanliness, passion, evil desires, and that lust which is idolatry.
6 These are the sins which provoke God’s wrath.
7 Your own conduct was once of this sort, when these sins were your very life.
8 You must put that aside now: all the anger and quick temper, the malice, the insults, the foul language.
9 Stop lying to one another. What you have done is put aside your old self with its past deeds
10 and put on the new man, one who grows in knowledge as he is formed anew in the image of his Creator.
11 There is no Greek or Jew here, circumcised or uncircumcised, foreigner, Scythian, slave, or freeman. Rather, Christ is in everything in all of you.
In Colossians 3: 5-11 we learn about vices to renounce in our daily lives. May we heed these words of St. Paul, words we know were inspired by God Himself, as we strive to remove vices from our lives. May we do so to be closer to God and His desire for us-to be with Him in Heaven. The next verses in Colossians 3 (verses 12-17) talk about the Practice of Virtues.
