Have Confidence in God’s Love for You Each Day
Have Confidence in God’s Love for You
Do you sometimes wonder deep in your heart if God really loves you? Do you also sometimes wonder if you are worthy of His love? Feeling insecure about God’s love for you or your worthiness is not uncommon. We are human; we want to see and hear God tell us He loves us. Repeatedly. The truth is: God does love you and you are worthy of His love because He created you. God gives you proof of His love so you can have confidence in His love for you.
How to have confidence in God’s love for you
Here are some ways to help you have confidence in God’s love for you: Find proof, read His word, receive the Sacraments, pray, study, and live it out.

Find proof.
Is there proof that God loves you? Yes. I am sure you are familiar with verse 16 from chapter 3 of John: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” This is the depth of God’s love for us-that Jesus allowed Himself to be beaten, ridiculed, crucified, and killed for our sake.
He sacrificed Himself for us so that we now can have eternal life with Him in Heaven. We still have a choice-we can choose Heaven or not.
Fr. Christian, a priest at the parish where I grew up, told us a story about the proof of God’s existence in one of his homilies. He told the story of an old native Indian chief and another man talking. The man asked the chief if God existed. The chief said yes. The man wanted proof. The chief remarked that we do not need to see God to have proof of His existence. We can see evidence of Him all around us. He gave the example of seeing chicken tracks in the dirt. Seeing the tracks lets us know the chicken exists and has been by, even though we don’t currently see the chicken.
There is proof of God’s existence and His love for us all around us. We need to notice it.
Read His word.
Reading the Word of God can help us to be more secure in His love for us. The Gospels in particular (the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) reveal Jesus’ love for us.
In the Old Testament books when the Israelites strayed from God and God helped them when they cried out to Him for help show us how faithful God is, even when we stray from Him. He will help us, too.
Reading God’s Word in the Bible can help you to see how much He loves you and what He has willingly done for you because of His great love for you.
If you want to have a Bible where you can write directly in your Bible, The Catholic Journaling Bible (NAB-RE version) by Blessed is She has wide margins and space to write down your reflections. It may be just what you are looking for.
The Great Adventure Catholic Bible has timelines, graphs, charts, and explanations to aid you in your study of the Bible.
Receive the Sacraments.
The Sacraments give us supernatural strength called grace. Grace helps us to live our lives even better than we could without it.
Out of all the Sacraments God gave us, we can receive two of them regularly: the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confession. When we receive the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist at Mass we receive Jesus Himself. He becomes a part of us in a unique way. He would not do this if He did not love us.
The Sacrament of Confession cleanses our souls of sins and gives us graces to help us avoid sin in the future. When we have sin cleansed from our soul, we are freer to love God and others more fully. The blindness that sin can cause in our lives is removed. We can then see God's love for us more clearly.
When we receive the Sacraments regularly, we receive grace from God that strengthens us and helps us to understand and live in His love more fully.
Study.
Learn more about the Catholic faith and what it has historically taught about God and His love. The Church has existed for over 2000 years. There are amazing saints and men and women who have written extensively about God, His love, and how we can live our lives closer to Him. We can study their works to learn more and grow in our faith.

Live it out.
Do you trust God? Do you know Him to be truthful? When you answer yes to these questions, it is easier to accept God's love for you. He tells you of His love for you in the Bible and He instituted the Church on earth to nourish us with the Sacraments and help us in our journey to Heaven.
Living your faith helps you to embrace it even more. You didn't learn how to ride a bicycle by watching others ride one. You learned how by getting on a bicycle and riding it yourself. And by practicing and practicing and practicing. It got easier and easier the more you practiced.
Having confidence in God's love for you and fully accepting His love sometimes takes practice. Living your faith, receiving the Sacraments, and praying for God's guidance and help can all help you to draw closer to God.
Being secure in God's love means accepting His love. Ask Him to help you if you struggle with this. He will help you.
Have confidence in God's love for you. 💖 He means every word He says and means every action He takes to tell you of His love and to show you His love for you.

Hi Mary thank you. Please could you answer my question on saints. Please could you clarify why do we pray to saints?
Thank you
Jasbir

Hi Jasbir,
As Catholics, we don’t pray to saints (even though people say to pray to a saint, we really are not praying to them). We pray only to God. We ask saints to pray for us just as we might ask a friend to pray for us. The saints are in Heaven with God. They are part of our Church. We can ask them to pray for us.
