22 The LORD said to Moses:
23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons and tell them:
This is how you shall bless the Israelites.
Say to them:
24 The LORD bless you and keep you!
25 The LORD let his face shine upon you,
and be gracious to you!
26 The LORD look upon you kindly and
give you peace!
27 So shall they invoke my name upon the Israelites,
and I will bless them.”
In Numbers 6: 22-27, God tells Moses how Aaron and his sons (the priests) shall bless the Israelites. The message is that the priests shall bless the people and invoke God’s name upon them. The meaning is shown to us that God wants His people to be blessed. Was this just a blessing for the Israelites? Does it apply to us today? Yes, it does. The Israelite people were God’s chosen people. Jesus came to fulfill the promise of God: that a Savior would come. When Jesus came, he came for the Israelites and all of the people in the world. This blessing of the Lord applies to us today. God wants to bless us and He wants us to live with His peace in our hearts. May we live our lives with these words of God’s blessing in our hearts.
