Priest’s Prayer at Mass after the “Lamb of God”
May the receiving of your Body and Blood,
Lord Jesus Christ,
not bring me to judgment and condemnation,
but through your loving mercy be for me
protection in mind and body
and a healing remedy.
Amen.
During Mass, the priest has many silent prayers that he prays. Being in the congregation, we may or may not hear these prayers; it depends on how loudly the priest says them. This particular priest’s prayer at Mass comes after the “Lamb of God.” One of our priests prays this one during Mass loudly enough for us to hear. It is so beautiful, humble, and to the point. It is a prayer that is applicable to all of us-a prayer of recognition of the power of the Eucharist and a plea for God’s mercy and healing of mind and body. May we all recognize God’s true presence in Holy Communion and ask for His mercy and help to live as close to Him as we can.
