Psalm 148: Hymn of All Creation to the Almighty Creator

Psalm 148: Hymn of All Creation to the Almighty Creator
1 Alleluia.
I
Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;
2 Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.
3 Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
4 Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded and they were created;
6 He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.
II
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all depths;
8 Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;
9 You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;
10 You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.
III
11 Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,
12 Young men too, and all maidens, old men and boys,
13 Praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
His majesty is above earth and heaven,
14 and he has lifted up the horn of his people.
Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him. Alleluia.
Psalm 148 in the Catholic Bible gives the clear message to praise God. The meaning of the psalm is that the Lord, Our God, created all things and all things in creation are subject to Him. It is a wonderful psalm of praise to God, of detailing who God is and all He had created. “His majesty is above heaven and earth.”
