Book Review: Near-Death Experiences by Scott L. Smith, Jr.
Near-Death Experiences by Scott L. Smith, Jr. is a very interesting read. Scott Smith talks about near-death experiences and out-of-body experiences of people in the long-ago past, not-so-distant past, as well as more recent experiences.
Near-Death Experiences highlights Jonah, St. Paul, and St. John the apostle in the Bible, experiences of saints Teresa of Avila, St. Therese of Lisieux, Pope St. Gregory the Great, and Padre Pio, and near-death experiences of priests and laity: Fr. Cedric Pisegna, Fr. Stephen Scheier, and Kevin Wells.
What I like about Near-Death Experiences
Scott Smith shares many resources and documentation to support what he shares in his book. I found the part about Jonah dying and coming back to life particularly interesting. He does not just mention this information and then move on, but gives a detailed explanation and support for it in the book. I appreciate that level of detail and thoroughness.
Each person’s experience that is discussed in the book is explained in detail and has references for more information. I was impressed by the deep level of faith Scott Smith shares in his book. He does not merely retell the experiences, but he dives into the significance and ramifications of each experience on the person himself/herself and on those around them.
