Am I giving all I have and all I am to God?
How can I give all to God?
We often say we want to live for God, but what does that look like?
I was reading a reflection about the life of St. Rose of Lima on MyCathoic.Life and was struck by a comment the author made: “… radically and completely give themselves over to the service of God, holding nothing back, so that God can take to Himself all that they are.”
If all that I am is devoted to God, He can take all that I am to Himself. I am 100% His.
He cannot take all of me to Himself if not all of me is devoted to Him. The parts of me that are not wholly devoted to God have sin. Sin cannot abide with God. God cannot take me to Himself in Heaven if I have sin on my soul. This shows I have some attachments that are not of God.
This is why Purgatory exists–to remove the parts of us that are not of God so that we may be with Him in Heaven.
This is why God gave us the Sacrament of Confession. God reaches down and offers us this Sacrament so we can become more united to Him and more like Him. He cleans the sin from our souls so we may be more closely united to Him.

What parts of me are not of God that I need to root out?
A good Examination of Conscience can help us determine the sins we have. We take these sins to Confession and work to not commit them again.
Yes, this takes work! It can be hard to see in ourselves our failings and sins. But God is merciful, and He loves us so much! He gave us the Sacraments to help us to be closer to Him.
The Meaning of Giving All to God
When we want to give ourselves to God, we want to remove sin from our souls. We want to get back up again when we fail and try again even when we are discouraged. We know and trust in God to help us to keep our focus on Him.
Give All to God
Giving all to God means everything. He gave us everything we have: our soul, intellect, body, as well as our friends, work, and the possessions we have on earth.
We can ask Him how He wants us to use them in this life in service to Him and for His eternal Kingdom. In this way, we can give them back to God as an offering.
