5 Easy Ways to Add More Prayer to Your Day
5 Simple Ideas to Add More Prayer to Your Day
Do you want to pray every day, yet not know how? Perhaps your day is so busy you don’t know where to make time for prayer. Or, maybe you are not sure of how to pray when you do plan to pray. It is okay. These 5 simple ideas can help you to add more prayer to your day. Just choose one that you think will work best for you and try it each day for a week.
Basically, prayer is communication with God. He wants us to speak with Him, to think of Him, praise Him, and draw closer to Him. He knows the daily responsibilities you have and He wants to be right there with you as you go about each day. Invite Him to walk with you each day.
1. Pray a Morning Offering before you get out of bed.
Start your day off by thinking about God. Ask Him to help you to live the day well, that you may embrace the joys and gracefully get through the challenges the day brings. Thank Him for your life and the gift of the day. Ask Him to help you to think of Him during the day.
Offer to God your thoughts, joys, and sufferings of the day.
2. Pray before meals.
It is important to remember to say thank you to God for all of His gifts. One simple way to do this is to say grace before each meal. Thank God for providing for your food and providing for all of your needs.
When you have a meal as a family, each person can also take a turn saying something they are thankful for.

3. Pray for safe travel when you are in the car or traveling.
When you leave home, ask God to look out for you and protect you as you travel. You can take a moment to pray before you begin your journey (even if it just to the supermarket), or pray while you are traveling.
You can speak to God from your heart, pray the Guardian Angel Prayer, pray a Rosary, or pray part of a Rosary on your journey.
4. Pray for your family as you fold laundry, do dishes, or do any household chore.
Sometimes chores are not our favorite things to do at home and we may even avoid doing them. (Like dishes or dusting. 😉) Turn your time doing household tasks into prayer time.
As you fold the laundry you can say a prayer for the person who wears the clothing item you are folding. Be sure to pray for yourself, too, as you fold and put away your own clothes. As you wash and put away the dishes, you can thank God for the food you have to eat and for running water to use to wash the dishes.
As you do other chores around your home, use the time as an opportunity to thank God for His blessings, ask for help and blessings for your family, and pray for your family.
5. Pray before going to sleep.
Here are two ideas you could try.
You can have family prayer time in the evening with your family. Gather together before your children's bedtime. Each person takes a turn praying for their intentions. Then, as a family, pray an Our Father or other prayers together.
You can also pray by yourself before you go to sleep. Thank God for His blessings and care for you and your family. Ask Him to watch over you and your family as you sleep and in your day tomorrow.
