At the Prayer Before Communion Catholic Mass Prayer
At the Prayer Before Communion
In saying to Thy Apostles:
“My peace I leave you, my peace I give you,”
Thou hast promised, O Lord, to all Thy Church,
that peace which the world cannot give;
peace with Thee, and peace with ourselves.
Let nothing, O Lord, ever interrupt this holy peace;
let nothing separate us from Thee,
to whom we heartily desire to be united,
through the blessed sacrament of peace and reconciliation.
Let this food of angels strengthen us in every Christian duty,
so as never more to yield under temptation,
or to fall into our common weaknesses.
Lord, I am not worthy Thou shouldst enter under my roof;
say only the word, and my soul shall be healed. [Three times.]
At the Prayer Before Communion is such a beautiful prayer. Before receiving Holy Communion at Mass, we ask God to fulfill His promise of peace, that we may have peace with Him and His peace with ourselves. We ask Him through the Blessed Sacrament to give us the strength to live good Christian lives and avoid temptation.
The Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: How to Practice the Sacred Heart Devotion by Rev. John Croiset shares the message Jesus gave to St. Margaret Mary about His Sacred Heart. Fr. Croiset was the spiritual director for St. Margaret Mary for 43 years. The book also contains St. Margaret Mary’s prayers to the Sacred Heart and the Sacred Heart Promises.
