Psalm 121: God watches over us and protects us.
Psalm 121: The Lord Our Guardian
1 A song of ascents.
I lift up my eyes toward the mountains;
whence shall help come to me?
2 My help is from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
3 May he not suffer your foot to slip;
may he slumber not who guards you:
4 Indeed he neither slumbers nor sleeps,
the guardian of Israel.
5 The Lord is your guardian; the Lord is your shade;
he is beside you at your right hand.
6 The sun shall not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will guard you from all evil;
he will guard your life.
8 The Lord will guard your coming and your going,
both now and forever.
The meaning of Psalm 121: The Lord Our Guardian is one of hope and trust in God. The message King David (the author) imparts to us is to have faith and trust in God in all things-during the day, at night, in our comings and in our goings, as well as when we are exposed to evil. Where does my help come from? It comes “from the Lord who made Heaven and earth.” Our God, the creator of ALL is our help. As verse 5 says, “He is beside you at your right hand.” This is a position of power and authority. That our mighty God is at our right hand to help and guard us is incredible to contemplate. This scripture shows us how much God loves and cares for us. It is a good lesson for us to understand! This Psalm is a wonderful prayer for us to say to help us to have greater faith and trust in our Lord and understand more His love and care for us.
