Catholic Bible Psalm 149: Invitation to Glorify the Lord with Song and Sword
Psalm 149: Invitation to Glorify the Lord with Song and Sword
1 Alleluia.
I
Sing to the Lord a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
2 Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
3 Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
4 For the Lord loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
5 Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;
6 let the high praises of God be in their throats.
II
And let two-edged swords be in their hands:
7 to execute vengeance on the nations,
punishments on the peoples;
8 To bind their kings with chains,
their nobles with fetters of iron;
9 To execute on them the written sentence.
This is the glory of all his faithful.
Alleluia.
Psalm 149: Invitation to Glorify the Lord with Song and Sword tells us that we need to be faithful to God because He is faithful to His promises. He saves His people and helps them against their enemies. May Psalm 149 help us to remember that God is always looking out for us; He cares for us and will help to conquer our enemies. May we always be faithful to God.
