Rosary Meditations on the Virtues of the Rosary
Grow in the Fruits of the Rosary with these Rosary Meditations
Each Mystery of the Rosary has a virtue associated with it (also called a fruit of the Mystery). We can pray for God to increase these virtues in us as we pray the Rosary.
If you are at a loss on how to pray for these virtues, this post is for you! Pray along with each intention below for the fruit of that Mystery to grow in your life.

Grow in the Virtues of the Joyful Mysteries.
The first Joyful Mystery is the Annunciation, when the Archangel Gabriel came to Mary to ask her to be the Mother of God. The virtue of this Mystery is humility. Pray for true humility, a humility that is like Christ’s humility.
The second Joyful Mystery is the Visitation, when Mary visits Elizabeth. The virtue of this Mystery is love of neighbor. Pray to love others by recognizing they are souls created and loved by God.
For the third Joyful Mystery, the Nativity of Jesus, the virtue of this Mystery is detachment. Pray for attachment to God and detachment from the things of this earthly life that separate you from God.
The fourth Joyful Mystery is the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple; the virtue of this Mystery is obedience. Pray for obedience to follow God’s commandments and His direction in your life.
For the fifth Joyful Mystery, the Finding of Jesus in the Temple by Mary and Joseph, the virtue is greater commitment and devotion to Jesus. Pray for a love and devotion to Jesus that sustains you in all circumstances in your life.

Grow in the Virtues of the Luminous Mysteries.
The first Luminous Mystery is the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, when St. John the Baptist baptized Jesus at Jesus’ request. The virtue of this Mystery is openness to the Holy Spirit. Pray for a heart open to hear and follow the guidance and voice of the Holy Spirit in your life.
The second Luminous Mystery is Jesus’ first public miracle at the wedding feast at Cana, when He turned water into wine. The virtue of this Mystery is Mary’s intercession. Ask Mary to pray for you to follow Jesus more closely and help you in this life so you will be in Heaven.
For the third Luminous Mystery, the proclamation of the kingdom of Heaven by Jesus, the virtue of this Mystery is Christian witness and conversion. Pray for the wisdom and words to speak to share the Gospel and truth of Christ with others.
For the fourth Luminous Mystery, the Transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain, the virtue of this Mystery is courage to bear the cross. Pray for fortitude and courage to carry the crosses God places in your life, knowing Jesus is right there with you.
The fifth Luminous Mystery is the institution of the Sacrament of the Eucharist. The virtue of this Mystery is greater love for the Holy Eucharist. Pray for a steadfast faith in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and a greater love for Him there.

Grow in the Virtues of the Sorrowful Mysteries.
The first Sorrowful Mystery is the Agony in the Garden. Jesus sweat blood as He contemplated dying for the sins of the whole world. The virtue of this Mystery is trust in God. Pray for a true and lasting trust in God. May this trust prevail over any periods of doubts you may have.
The second Sorrowful Mystery is the scourging at the pillar. Jesus is cruelly whipped until He is almost unrecognizable. The virtue of this Mystery is purity; mortification. Pray for purity of mind, body, and soul. Remember what Jesus endured for your sins when you face a temptation against purity.
In the third Sorrowful Mystery, Jesus is crowned with thorns. The virtue of this Mystery is moral courage; fortitude. Pray for courage to follow Jesus no matter what temptations are in the world to tempt you to leave Him.
The fourth Sorrowful Mystery is Jesus carries His cross. The virtue of this Mystery is perseverance in trials. Pray for the strength to persist in love of God when things in life are hard or you do not understand why things are happening. Know that Jesus is with you.
For the fifth Sorrowful Mystery, the crucifixion and death of Jesus on the cross, the virtue of this Mystery is forgiveness for others. Keepong in mind that Jesus forgave those who killed Him, ask Jesus to help you to forgive others. Pray for others whom you need to forgive and pray for yourself, for peace of mind and heart.

Grow in the Virtues of the Glorious Mysteries.
The first Glorious Mystery is the Resurrection of Jesus, when He rose from the dead three days after He died on the cross. The virtue of this Mystery is faith. Pray for faith in Jesus, especially when it may seem hard to hold on. Remember that He rose after three days; He will bring a resurrection to your life in a way you do not expect.
The second Glorious Mystery is the Ascension, when Jesus ascended into Heaven 40 days after He rose from the dead. The virtue of this Mystery is hope. Pray to maintain hope when it seems like there is no reason to hope. Jesus will help you to hope in Him and His love and care for you.
For the third Glorious Mystery, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and disciples in the upper room, the virtue of this Mystery is gifts of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to grow and flourish in your life as you grow in faith and closeness to God.
The fourth Glorious Mystery is the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. The virtue of this Mystery is to Jesus through Mary. Pray to be able to follow Mary’s example of faithful love and service to God. Mary is the model of Christian love and faithfulness and always points to her Son.
The virtue of the fifth Glorious Mystery, Jesus’ crowning of Mary as Queen of Heaven and earth, is final perseverance. Pray for fortitude to persevere in faith to the end of your days so you will enjoy the glories of Heaven in the presence of Jesus.
